Start with the kind of connection you want
A regular class, a sports club and a volunteer role are different ways to become involved in Worthing. Think about the activity, location and time you can offer before making an enquiry. A nearby venue you can return to regularly may be more useful than a one-off trip across town.
The town’s neighbourhoods have their own meeting places. Heene, East Worthing, Broadwater and Durrington all provide starting points beyond the central seafront, with different organisations responsible for their own programmes and facilities.
Ask a community centre about its programme
Heene Community Centre on Heene Road publishes classes, room hire and cafe information. East Worthing Community Centre is on Pages Lane and provides a manager’s contact for enquiries. For either venue, describe the class or activity you are looking for instead of assuming that every session accepts walk-ins.
If you want to hire a room, give the date, expected numbers and purpose of the gathering. Ask about access, equipment and the arrangements for setting up. The organiser can then explain which space or booking route fits the plan.
Find a sport or practical project
Worthing Cricket Club provides information for junior and senior players from its Broadwater base. South Downs Leisure publishes activities and membership information across local facilities, including Worthing Leisure Centre. Check the individual venue or club for session times and joining arrangements.
Durrington Community Cycle Project is based at the Pavilion on Pond Lane Recreation Ground. Its website explains its cycle-focused community work and contact arrangements. Ask what help or involvement is currently available before bringing equipment or planning a visit.
Use the right route for support or volunteering
Turning Tides supports adults facing homelessness across West Sussex, including Worthing. Guild Care provides care and community services, with information about its different forms of support. Their own websites explain how to ask for help, donate or enquire about volunteering.
Give a little context when contacting an organisation, such as the type of help needed or your interests and availability. For donations of goods, check the current receiving location and accepted items first. An office address is not automatically a donations drop-off point.
